My last few months back in Sweden have been challenging to say the least! Not only did I have to re adapt to a culture that has become somewhat strange over the years, but to figure out what am I to do with my life?
What do I have to offer society?
I am sure that many of you ask yourself that every day. I have very focused set of skills that seems are not wanted here in Sweden. After trying to figure out a way to use my said skills, I realize that it’s impossible. I don’t know what Sweden has against my art style. It was fairly popular in America. So after realizing that, I did the only logical thing I could do. I created my own company.
There are always people from America who want to hire me to do work and why should I sit still in a corner while waiting for the Swedish society to present me with opportunities when I can create them myself?
Although I am happy to be home, there are some things that bother me a lot.
Mainly unemployment. Many people claim that unemployment is not that big of an issue. I do not agree. I’ve seen many friends and family struggle and losing their jobs. I guess when you have a job in today’s market, it’s easy to say that “ Oh, just go out and look, if you haven’t found one, that means you are not looking hard enough”. I resent that statement. It seems to me that when we have the things that others lack, we act as if thou they are given to all.
I understand that some people like being out of work and living on the state. But to claim that all unemployed do is a very shameful thing to say.
Anyway, back to my business. It’s fairly simple. “Big business quality graphic for a small business budget”. Not bad huh?
I already have enough work to keep me going for a while! I am also glad to say that my main client is one of the best people I’ve met in my life. The hard part about running a business is the paperwork. Sheess. The first month I barely had any time to do anything else but file paperwork. Things are finally calming down now and I am getting the hang of how to deal with the Swedish taxes and such. I am also lucky to have my mom helping me out with accounting.
I am still trying to figure out the design on my website, I was thinking something like this. My brother said it didn’t stand out so I am still trying to figure out a way to make it POP!
Now let’s create a success story!
I know I also haven’t written anything about gaming in a while. Mainly because I haven’t had the time to play anything! WAAAH L
Glad to see you making the best of things!! Good luck!
