Batman – Arkham Asylum

After a long time of anticipation, the new Batman game Arkham Asylum has finally been released. As usual I worry about hyped games not living up to their expectations. I have to say that this latest installment of super hero based game blew me away, I have been able to witness both the PS3 and Xbox360 versions. They both work excitedly well on both systems with their pro’s and con’s.

The PS3 version comes with the Playable Joker download while the Xbox as 1080p HD. There has been debates which one runs more smoothly on which system. After observing both in action, neither one has any apparent lag time or considerably unbearable loading time. I can’t think of anything that actually in any way prevents the game flow. Sad isn’t it? For its genre it is close to the perfect game. I cannot claim it to be a perfect game, because nothing is perfect and I’d be darned if I labeled something perfect.

About:
You are Batman (woot). You just captured Joker from one of his crazy shenanigans. You deliver him to the warden of the asylum and from there all hell breaks loose (or all crazies anyway). Being locked in the asylum, you have to save the police chief, warden and recapture all lunatics that the Joker liberated as well as the king of crazy (Joker).

I cannot define what style this game is. It is a big mixture of stealth, battle, rpg etc. It can be finished adapting several styles of gameplay. Some can go into battle and play it like a beat em up game. While others might prefer the more stealthy and sneaky type of gaming. It also contains several puzzles to solve, you don’t have to but it is alot of fun doing so. The environments are gorgeous to say the least! The scenery’s have captured the spirit of Batman and Gotham.

Batman comes of course with alot of accessories that you will need to solve puzzles and beat the game. We all know that Batman is the biggest tech toy collector, you get to solve mysteries and puzzled with his awesome arsenal of gadgets. You start to delude yourself that you are a detective with bat ears. The entire detective part actually makes you feel as if you were part of CSI Gothman, very entertaining indeed Horatio. There is nothing more entertaining then to jump down into the open map/scene and float around using your bat cloak. Also what is impressive is that throughout the game, Batman is being beaten up and battled galore, you can tell, his suit takes damage. You start with a little slice in the fabric on the right arm, then it keeps getting worse. As a woman I am secretly hoping that by the end of the game that he will wear with nothing but a loincloth.

Also Disney is about to buy Marvel, I wonder if their next goal is DC comics. Can you imagen batman with Mickey mouse ears? I can.
